Diversity, equity and inclusion work can feel complex. Many leaders and teams want to do the right thing, but are unsure where to focus or how to talk about it without getting it wrong.

Equality Group supports organisations across Australia to build inclusive workplaces that leaders can actually deliver. We combine strategy, capability building and practical coaching to turn intent into everyday action.

What we do

  • DEI strategy and roadmap (priorities, accountability and measures)

  • DEI audit and maturity review (what’s working, what’s stalling, what to do next)

  • Training and capability building (shared language and practical skills)

  • Coaching for leaders and new practitioners (confidence and judgement in real moments)

  • Creative consultation (art-based) to unlock honest insight and better engagement

DEI STRATEGY

  • Strategy brings clarity and focus. We help you turn good intent into a practical roadmap with clear priorities, accountability and measures, so it can be delivered in the real world and create benefits for your people and your organisation.

DEI Audit & Maturity Review

An audit gives you clarity on what’s really happening, where progress is stalling, and what to do next.

Is your organisation missing out on talent because inclusion isn’t landing in day-to-day practice?

Are you seeing lots of activity, but not enough measurable progress or confidence in the impact?

Does your approach feel reactive, addressing issues as they arise rather than following a clear plan?

What risks could unaddressed inclusion gaps create for culture, reputation, retention and performance?

Coaching

Coaching supports leaders and DEI practitioners to build confidence and judgement in real workplace moments.

Are you unsure how to turn inclusion intent into practical action and consistent leadership habits?

Do you want support navigating difficult conversations, resistance, or sensitivity without relying on scripts?

Are you working on noticing bias patterns and responding in a way that is clear, fair and human?

Do you want to move beyond token gestures and build inclusion that people can actually feel?

Training

After identifying your focus, we provide numerous straightforward awareness sessions and courses to foster awareness and transform cultures.

Far from conventional training, our group sessions are dynamic and engaging, featuring discussions and consciousness-raising activities. These are crafted to stimulate candid conversations while enhancing team's abilities for inclusion.

Creative consultation (art-based)

Sometimes the conversation gets stuck. People give safe answers, worry about saying the wrong thing, or disengage when the topic feels loaded.

Creative consultation uses art-based methods to help people slow down, think differently, and contribute more honestly. It creates a level playing field for participation and generates insight you can translate into practical next steps or strategy.

Is your engagement starting to feel repetitive or surface-level?

Do people hold back in workshops or consultations because they don’t feel confident with the language?

Do you need better quality input than surveys or standard sessions are giving you?

Would a creative approach help your team build connection while still producing usable outcomes?

Public speaking

We deliver practical, engaging talks that build shared language and help audiences move from intention to action.

Topics include:

  • Diversity, equity and inclusion

  • Allyship in practice

  • LGBTIQA+ inclusion

  • Gender equality

  • Pronouns and respectful language

  • Men’s role in gender equality

Our client’s feedback…

“James led the review and update of the Diversity and Inclusion Framework at NDIA.

I really appreciated the way in which he ran with all of the networking and catch ups with all the relevant stakeholders, and the extension of that is adopting their feedback to really include the voices of those talked to into the framework.

It is a really great legacy piece to have provided for the NDIA.”

-Tim Wedding, Director of Inclusion - NDIA

“James supported us to develop our Belonging and Inclusion Strategy, helping us to think differently, creating simple actions to make a difference at Healius. ”

—Garth Quinn Manager, People Experience – Healius

“James from Equality Group led an awareness session on International Pronouns Day. His depth of insight provided guidance to the group which directly impacted the gender literacy of our team. James’ deep understanding of inclusivity is unquestionable, and immeasurably valuable. ”

“James and Fiona's professional and tailored approach to creating our DEIB Roadmap was impressive.

They not only analysed our existing cultural maturity, processes and practices but also engaged with diverse stakeholders, including the First Nations Group, to ensure that everyone's voice was heard.

The senior leadership workshop they provided was insightful, empowering our leaders to drive the change more intentionally. We highly recommend Diversity Know How for any organisation looking to enhance their diversity and inclusive culture and practices.”
